Schools expect non-native teachers to be well qualified in EFL

Greetings! I signed up my TEFL course because a lot of schools are excepting for non-native speakers to obtain a TEFL or TESOL certificate.

After I joining the TEFL Lemon 180-Hour course, I have learned teaching methods and approaches. From Units 1 to Unit 13, I have studied difference approaches and differences such as: ESL, PPP, ESOL, EAL, and EAP. The course explained each the structure of each approach and why one is better than another in certain situations The course also gives clear boundaries where we can set rules and managements for the classroom settings.

From Unit 2, the online TEFL course gives clear understanding about student’s role and teachers’ roles. What are the teacher’s role and how it will affect the entire class and the individual during schooling? Also I learned the importance of grammar. The three tenses were clearly explained using these easy and simple methods in the class young learners easily grasp and use it during academics and their life. Because schools expect non-native teachers to be well qualified in EFL, these concepts will help me a lot in my professional life.

From this TEFL course I have learned (PPP vs ESA) these two approaches enabling students to learn, use and speak English in classes when we consider which one is perfect one according to current generation “ ESA” ESA stands for “ENGAGE, STUDY, ACTIVE” . PPP it was useful in the past. PPP Stands for PRESENT, PRACTICE, and PRODUCE. I understood these two approaches well and realised which approach is good for students according to current generations “ESA “because PPP approach very structured and teacher initiated method. But an ESA gives teachers the freedom to be more flexible in what happens in the classroom.

In this TEFL Course audios illustrate clearly how the classroom managements and as a teacher how we can use all these in simple and clearly explained. Before I joined this TEFL course I was thinking classroom management were keep the desk and room tidy, discipline. But after I have enrolled TEFL lemon it gave me clear views about a good classroom management good classroom management encompasses lots of different ideas and approaches. How to design each layouts and how it will change the entire classroom.

From TEFL course I have learned how to bring technology into the classroom. According to this alpha generation, how to use technology in the classroom and it gives students more advanced. Because I’ve learned how to integrate technology into classes, I can now match the schools’ expectation of being well-qualified in this area. I’ve also learned how to teach children and adults. Some people say that there is no such thing as a natural language learner and that all people have an equal ability to learn language. I disagree with this after my experience with kids. They are natural learners when the environment positive.

The TEFL Lemon Higher Certificate in TESOL course has also taught me lesson planning. Although I have 12 years of teaching English in China, I was still struggling making lesson plans according to schools and curriculum. After I studied TEFL, it gave me clear foundation three simple steps. Also I have learned how it is important to add supplementary materials how to bring pages of a language textbook to life using puppets, games movie clips & realia.
